I present you Tyler Chen’s (my brother) first year film for the Cal Art character animation program. He was supposed to make a 90 second black and white short, he did 7 minutes colored. I helped him out a bit with some of the audio like the VO recording and jingles.

My brother and I made a little game for an experimental game contest hosted by the Kokoromi Collective. The only rule was that the game could old have one button of input.

Here’s our entry, the one button (SPACE) rotates the human’s body!

We didn’t end up placing (they only picked 5 out of 155+ games) but we sure had a blast doing it. I did all the programming and my brother Tyler did all the art and animation. Look out for more Chen brother collaborations soon.

Make: Novation Launchpad x Arcade Buttons, first button

In the coming month I’ll be working on replacing the I/O of the new Novation Launchpad for Ableton Live with arcade buttons and LEDs in the same vein as my Monome x Arcade Buttons. This is a commissioned piece for a friend of mine who owns and opperates Moon Tech Studios.

Above is an initial one button test! So far, the most complicated thing seems to be the very tiny surface mounted LEDs that must be removed before adding your own. Fortunately, the PCB has some nice holes for each solder point.
